Located along the northern side of Old San Juan directly across from the Capitol building, Playa Peña is accessed via a small set of stone stairs leading down from the street promenade. It is a compact, rocky pocket beach framed by historic stone sea walls. Strong currents make it better for sea-glass hunting and wading rather than swimming, but its backdrop makes it one of the most unique urban coastal spots on the island.
Scenic, rugged, oceanfront escape steps from the Capitol Building.
